IAS members Prof. Dr. Borut Mavko and Prof. Dr. Jurij Tasič become Emeritus Professors of the University of Ljubljana

The university has submitted the justifications for the title of Emeritus Professor.

Professor Borut Mavko is a retired professor of nuclear engineering at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Ljubljana. He leaves behind a two-year Master's degree programme in Nuclear Engineering comparable to programmes at other universities worldwide, as well as a PhD programme and numerous PhD and MSc students in the field of nuclear engineering. He has been, and continues to be, a key promoter of close cooperation between the University of Ljubljana and the Jožef Stefan Institute. This cooperation gives students at the University of Ljubljana easy access to the Jožef Stefan Institute's research nuclear reactor.

Prof. Dr. Jurij Franc Tasič is a renowned expert with 27 doctoral mentorships under his belt, making him a highly sought-after mentor in the fields of electrical engineering and computer science. His numerous applied and international research projects cover early computing systems, signal processing, advanced telecommunications algorithms, multimedia systems, artificial intelligence, and medical diagnostics. He complements his academic achievements with responsible management positions in business and society.
